The brief
Our Minds Together is a community interest company in Caerphilly supporting mental health and wellbeing. Their Wellbeing Champions programme, funded by the Millennium Stadium Charitable Trust, trains people in grassroots football clubs to look out for their teammates. Founder Lloyd Stone came to us with a simple thought rather than a finished idea: a short film to launch the programme during Mental Health Awareness Week, and to make the case for better mental health support across the game.
The approach
We shaped the idea together, starting with a concept and storyboard and refining it with Lloyd until it felt punchy and real. The film opens with the scale of the problem, then follows a player overwhelmed in the changing room, his inner voices building until they are cut to silence by a teammate’s hand on his shoulder and a simple question: “Are you okay?” The grade moves from cold and desaturated to full colour as the team walks out together.
We filmed on match day at Wattsville FC: the narrative scenes, the club’s Wellbeing Champions speaking to camera, the walk-out with the junior mascots, the match itself and drone footage of the ground. Lloyd recorded the voiceover at the club, and we composed an original score and sound design, with a heartbeat running under the opening.
The outcome
The film was delivered in long and short cuts, in both landscape and portrait, ready for every platform, and released during Mental Health Awareness Week 2026. Three social edits and a full library of graded clips followed, giving Our Minds Together material to keep the conversation going well beyond launch week.
In Lloyd’s words: “Filming on the day was a great experience too, accommodating, flexible and just a really enjoyable and fun vibe. We will definitely be working with them again.”
