The brief
George’s Fund gives grants to charities and community groups in Herefordshire, and we were already working with Laura Hughes on a series of films about the groups it supports. In spring 2026 Laura organised a charity canoe day: a paddle of around eight miles down the River Wye, from Kerne Bridge to Symonds Yat East. She needed help selling tickets beforehand, and wanted the day itself captured so it could be shared afterwards.
The approach
We started with a short promo film. Laura spoke to camera beside the river in Hereford, and we cut it to around 60 seconds for social media to tell people about the day and get them signed up.
On the day we worked as a small crew of three. Rich filmed from the bank and flew the drone, Molly ran a second camera and handled interviews, and Cat paddled the route herself, shooting stills and point-of-view clips from the water. That mix let us follow the canoes all the way down the river, from the morning briefing at Kerne Bridge to the finish at Symonds Yat.

The outcome
Laura had a taster set of photos the next morning, followed by a full gallery of 122 edited images and a highlight film of the day, giving George’s Fund a lasting record to share with paddlers and supporters.
